About mercy gate
The story behind Mercy Gate Ministries and the people who make it possible.
Our Story
Where there is unity, there is hope. Together we make a difference.
Mercy Gate Ministries is a faith-based, direct care nonprofit serving women impacted by sexual exploitation, sexual trauma, and sex trafficking. Through residential and nonresidential programs, advocacy, and long-term support, Mercy Gate walks alongside survivors as they move from crisis to healing, and from healing to restored, independent lives.
The ministry began with a shared calling between Chae Spencer and Lisa Carpenter, who had each spent years serving individuals in need throughout the Kerr County community. Through those experiences, they recognized a deeper need—not just for short-term help, but for coordinated, relational, and long-term care for those falling through the cracks.
Mercy Gate was launched to meet that need: to provide a place where women could be known, supported, and equipped to rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose.
Lana Seibert was part of the early formation of Mercy Gate Ministries, helping lay the groundwork in its beginning stages. While her role was foundational in the start-up phase, the ministry has since grown and developed into the organization it is today.

Today, Mercy Gate Ministries operates as a comprehensive continuum of care. From advocacy and outreach to structured restoration programs and transitional support, the organization is committed to addressing the spiritual, emotional, physical, and practical needs of every woman it serves. Rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ, Mercy Gate exists to break cycles of exploitation, restore identity and hope, and empower survivors to step into lasting freedom.

Our Mission
Mercy Gate Ministries is a Kerr County 501(c)(3) ministry dedicated to demonstrating the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ to those affected by human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Mercy Gate Ministries’ mission is to break the bonds of captivity, impart power over victimization, and provide relational advocacy to help survivors of sexual trauma transition to become healthy contributors to society. We do this through residential and nonresidential programs, education, outreach, and advocacy opportunities.
